Site Protection…
There are a lot of natural sources around this area and we decided that to protect the house from being water-logged a french drain was needed. We purchase 50 metres of yellow drainage tube (150mm diameter) plus 6 tonnes of large gravel to create the french drain. A trench was dug to the south and east of the house on the edge of the plot, the tube was laid and overfilled with the gravel. No doubt this will be tested over the winter.
In addition to this drain work an extra section of large drain (300mm) was added to the pond drain installed at the beginning of the year. This is to connect through to the drainage ditch on the west boundary of the property. The trench was back-filled to save anyone falling down the trench (even though they should not be near the work).
